Now more than ever, you are needed to donate your old blankets, towels, and sheets to your local animal shelter. With financial cut-backs, repairs on shelters are often put off, so if it's drafty, the animals suffer. I know my shelter uses rags to stuff under doors. No kidding! Empty out those closets... this is your chance to get rid of stuff and do something useful!

She Still Has Her Dog

A fellow dog lover (and puppy mill rescuer) on Facebook posited the following:
 
"So you say that you are getting a divorce, moving to a place that "doesn't allow pets", and are going to "have" to take your pet to a pound?! This woman has been through a 9.0 earthquake, is hungry and cold...and, she STILL HAS HER DOG!"
