Now more than ever, you are needed to donate your old blankets, towels, and sheets to your local animal shelter. With financial cut-backs, repairs on shelters are often put off, so if it's drafty, the animals suffer. I know my shelter uses rags to stuff under doors. No kidding! Empty out those closets... this is your chance to get rid of stuff and do something useful!

funny dog pictures - Goggie Reunited With Owner After Quake in Japan

God bless this man (whose dog was rescued and returned to him), his countrymen, their kids and families, their pets, and the Nation of Japan.

I'm posting this bit of good news because it describes the decisions people have had to make and what they are dealing with right now.

More... this time a dog that won't leave its injured friend. (They were both rescued; one is in a shelter, the other is at a vet's office)
