Now more than ever, you are needed to donate your old blankets, towels, and sheets to your local animal shelter. With financial cut-backs, repairs on shelters are often put off, so if it's drafty, the animals suffer. I know my shelter uses rags to stuff under doors. No kidding! Empty out those closets... this is your chance to get rid of stuff and do something useful!

Chesterfield South Carolina Shelter Investigation

(UPDATE BELOW...)

Every so often you hear about a story where clearly the people involved think no one will learn of their actions.  With the internet, news media, facebook, and the dilligent and committed animal protection community, it's not going to happen that way.

Allegedly, over 50 dogs were shot and dumped in a landfill in South Carolina. Some areas allow shooting as the means of euthanization (though this is fairly rare), but not this place.

I'll be posting the outcome of this case. Hopefully cruelty charges will be filed.

Maybe you'd like to call the Sheriff's office to complain, but please be respectful and professional. They need to conduct their investigation, but it is good to let them know the country is watching.

Sheriff Sam Parker

109 Scotch Rd.

Chesterfield, SC 29709

The latest...
Still do not know who authorized the shooting, the number has varied but now sits at at least 50, officers at the shelter are on paid leave, they are getting lots of calls!, and there is definately some clear problems with how this shelter is conducting itself. One thing is sure, they can use some dogs adopted.

UPDATE:

It has been suggested that the Sheriff's office is conducting an investigation on its own office. More later. For now, keep the pressure up.
