Now more than ever, you are needed to donate your old blankets, towels, and sheets to your local animal shelter. With financial cut-backs, repairs on shelters are often put off, so if it's drafty, the animals suffer. I know my shelter uses rags to stuff under doors. No kidding! Empty out those closets... this is your chance to get rid of stuff and do something useful!

CALL TO ACTION -- North Carolina

Due to budget cuts which are happening all over, there is a proposal in North Carolina to eliminate shelter, pet store and rescue oversight. Letters and call are needed.
We have been informed that the Department of Agriculture must cut 10% and they have decided to cut the Animal Welfare Division.  This means that what little oversight we have over shelters, pet stores and rescues will be eliminated. This is an enormous step backwards for North Carolina and a disaster for our animals.

North Carolina Voters For Animal Welfare have the story. See their page for ways to help.
