Now more than ever, you are needed to donate your old blankets, towels, and sheets to your local animal shelter. With financial cut-backs, repairs on shelters are often put off, so if it's drafty, the animals suffer. I know my shelter uses rags to stuff under doors. No kidding! Empty out those closets... this is your chance to get rid of stuff and do something useful!

POS Alert

Jimmy Spears Jr.

This one got some good jail time.  He deserves it. He starved three dogs to death. They were found huddled together in one dog house. May he enjoy every moment of his incarceration; three consequetive sentences! Woot-woot! He'll serve three 19-23 month sentences.

Penny Eims at the Examiner has the goods.

North Carolina does still gas their animals to death in shelters, but they did pass Susie's Law in December 2010, making intentionally starving a dog a Class H felony. Formerly, it was a Class I felony and carried no jail time.

Susie's Law passed unanimously. Here are the people, and Susie, who helped get it done.
