Now more than ever, you are needed to donate your old blankets, towels, and sheets to your local animal shelter. With financial cut-backs, repairs on shelters are often put off, so if it's drafty, the animals suffer. I know my shelter uses rags to stuff under doors. No kidding! Empty out those closets... this is your chance to get rid of stuff and do something useful!

Facebook Networking Saves Dogs

This story resonated with me because it is the same story of how I got Mr. Wiggins.

MIAMI (WSVN/CNN) – A Facebook page connected a dog on death row in Miami with its new owner in Michigan. Nick, a 2-year-old Bull Terrier mix was featured on Facebook escaped being euthanized by Miami-Dade Animal Services. Steve Jordan, a Facebook user and now life saver flew all the way from Michigan to rescue Nick who was facing death at a high-kill shelter.

Here's how it works:
  1. Facebook user sees dog who needs rescue
  2. Facebook user flies to far away state to get dog from high kill facility
  3. Dog is forever grateful
  4. Both have been saved.
