Now more than ever, you are needed to donate your old blankets, towels, and sheets to your local animal shelter. With financial cut-backs, repairs on shelters are often put off, so if it's drafty, the animals suffer. I know my shelter uses rags to stuff under doors. No kidding! Serendipity came calling in Tinley Park on Tuesday afternoon. That's when a dog who'd recently lost his family and a family who'd recently lost their dog found each other.
Harley, a 1 1 / 2 -year-old boxer who was given to Aurora Animal Control weeks ago by his first family because they were on the brink of foreclosure, became the 20,000th animal to be adopted out by Peoples Animal Welfare Society.
