Now more than ever, you are needed to donate your old blankets, towels, and sheets to your local animal shelter. With financial cut-backs, repairs on shelters are often put off, so if it's drafty, the animals suffer. I know my shelter uses rags to stuff under doors. No kidding! Empty out those closets... this is your chance to get rid of stuff and do something useful!

The Story of Caesar

Click the post title for a story in LoHud, a section of the Westchester Journal Review (that is very kind to us and always posts about our dogs).

This story is about one of the dogs that got adopted from Yonkers Animal Shelter this past week. Caesar was a staff favorite (they all sort of are) and in particular I can tell you G the Volunteer took an interest in him. G could be your Grandma and there she was, walking this gigantic pit bull, even though her knee is weak and they both would sort of hobble down the road. I thought of her when I heard Caesar got adopted and wondered if she'd be upset. Nope, or if she was, she didn't show it!

Read on...
It's a heartwarming story, and catnip to us animal people.

Congrats to all at the Yonkers Animal Shelter for taking good care of Caesar, and in particular Leslie, who does her best to ferret out the very best adoptive parents she can for our dogs. Well done!
